Dracula The Musical has the same problem, except it's somehow worse because they're not even doing the reincarnated wife angle. Dracula just decides they're soulmates and Mina falls in love. One of the songs is "I Was Born To Love You" by Mina.
Because what is a woman if not born for a man.
I will say the Frank Wildhorn Dracula musical (not sure if you meant that one or a different one) has some really badass staging and musical numbers - especially the South Korean version - so I am a bit biased and willing to give it a pass for a lot of things. Also it straight up has Dracula drink Jonathan's blood, as was only hinted at in the books, in a dark and homoerotic scene that is definitely what Bram Stoker would have wanted to write had he not been living in the 1890s. So kudos for that as well.
Also, at least the musical doesn't pretend to be 'tHe MoST FAitHFuL aDApTAtiON EvEr'.
But yeah, it definitely continues a lot of the misreadings of the book popularized by Coppola and some dumb critics who misread the books, though it doesn't feel quite as sexist and "rape-apologismy" as Coppola's movie imho. And because of the differnet medium I'm able to view it more as it's own thing.
But also. I am biased because pretty costumes + cool sets + banger songs make brain go burrr.
#no but the south korean dracula musical with kim junsu was so good ngl#the whole Forever Younad & Fresh Blood sequence is SO well done. Kim junsu has such charisma.#and the music and costumes and STAGING are epic#And Life After Life is also really good ngl#And It's Over. Love the music and song there. also the staging where the cross catches on fire is so good#idk why but frank wildhorn writes a lot of really good musicals that are kinda bad in the US and get barely any attention#but then get remade in south Korea#with basically the same music and songs but a lot of adjustments to the lyrics and some to the plot and they are SO good#like the US version of Jekyll & Hyde is meh but the Korean version is amazing#Same for the Death Note musical - tho for that one I actually prefer the Japanese version. (I think that was made first before it was#translated to Korean but I could be wrong)#the kenji urai deathnote musical version is literally one of my all-time favorite musicals#asks#Dracula#Dracula musical#Like

All I Need
(Let Down part 2)
-------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
Park Jihyo x female reader
Warnings: mentions of alcohol, mentions of cheating, a bit suggestive at the end
Story: What had been broken, could also be fixed.
Authors note: A big thank you to the person who requested a part two! I'm happy for every interaction I get on my fanfics. Big love to everyone who has been liking my posts♡. Enjoy the read♥︎
-------------------------------------------------------
'What was broken could also be fixed.'
That's what eight year old Jihyo thought after breaking one of her mothers precious vases. While chasing after her siblings, she accidentally knocked the expensive object over and caused it to shatter into many pieces.
Now she was sitting at the table in her bedroom with a glue bottle in her hand, trying to fix the mess that she had made. It wasn't exactly easy to figure out which pieces belonged together and how to arrange them, but she would invest every second she had to ensure that this vase would be fixed.
The work was hard and painful, but Jihyo put her best efforts into putting the vase together. In the end, she had a decent result. The vase was almost the same as before. No, it was even better. The vase created a completely new image. The colours now create a different picture. It gave the vase a fresh new look.
Jihyo was, of course, scolded for the action. Her mother loved the vase, and she was quite sad after she found out that Jihyo had broken it. To her surprise, the result Jihyo came up with was even better than her previous vase. The new creation gave her so much joy and a whole different perspective that she put it into the entry. Jihyo's mom proudly showed the remade vase to everyone entering the house.
◇
The weeks after the finished collaboration were rough. Jihyo moved out of the once shared apartment. You were not really talking to her. Only acknowledging her when it was nessacery. What broke Jihyo the most were the ripped up pictures she found one day. That was apparently your way of dealing with everything, just breaking stuff out of frustration.
Of course, she understood the struggles you had. She still couldn't figure out what brought her to the decision to cheat on you. Nothing ever made her question her relationship until that point. To her relief, the short fling with the male artist quickly ended after the collaboration. He returned back to the States without messaging Jihyo. What an asshole. She put the most important thing in her life onto the edge just to be ghosted.
Well karma is a bitch and it was all over Jihyos face. The ripped up picture pieces lay secure in her bedside table at the new apartment. She would never let these go or the relationship with you. Everything that had been broken could also be fixed. That mindset burned into Jihyo's head as she made out a plan to win you back.
◇
Work drowned out your insecure thoughts. The books were kind of your saviour. After things with Jihyo partially ended, you felk into a consumerism spiral and bought every book revolving about love, relationship drama, and most importantly, murdering your ex.
You were so pent up with frustration that the poor books and customers had to suffer under the emotional mess of your life. Friends and family were your biggest supporters, but after a while, you found more solitude by drowning yourself into the world of books. They gave you the perfect scenarios to imagine. Scenarios that could've happened with Jihyo, too.
You tried to ignore her or everything evolving around her, but you live in South Korea. The streets are plastered with her face. The internet is filled with commercials that include her or even her voice. The radio plays the same Twice songs. You could never really escape her, even if you wanted to.
◇
Jihyo turned the key to your once shared apartment. There were still things that she needed to get. You were sitting on the couch, almost unbothered. You tried so hard not to care when she was around, but then her eyes met yours, and suddenly, everything started crashing down on you.
She would comfort you, hold you close to her, and you would let her. In the end, you would do everything to keep her. Being back in her securing embrace made you calm down. She always had a calming effect on you.
"I am going to fix this."
Her promise was sure and determined. You know jihyo. She pulls things through until they're done. She keeps her promise.
◇
The bed felt different this morning. Another weight pushed the mattress further down into the wooden bedframe. Her black hair is spread out across the pillow case. Her breathing, soft and gentle, casts through the air like a nostalgic melody. Her fingers wrap around the fabric of your shirt.
Jihyo sleeping next to you in bed was not something you thought you'd be waking up to any time soon. Both of you were still hurt and broken from her cheating. You never knew how much she was affected by her actions, but you also partially didn't care. She made that decision, and now she had to live with the consequences.
You take her hand off your shirt and leave the bedroom. The audacity she had, sleeping in your bed, next to you. You walk into the guest bedroom. The bed there wasn't as comfortable as your own, but you don't want to sleep next to Jihyo. At least not now.
Over the course of the last week, things changed. You started talking to her again and let her back into the apartment. Both of you actually settled for her sleeping in the guest room. That quickly changed, though, as she started sneaking into your room and sleeping next to you.
You started arguments over this, but at the end of the day, it was never enough for you to actually stay mad at her. Everything you tried shattered down the cliffs of her care for you. Ironically, she was the one caring for you when you were crying about the things she did.
Like always, she found a way back into your heart. Slowly but surely, she'd crawl back in like nothing happened. That's what she always did, and you could never hold her back. It's like you needed her more than oxygen. Like the air, your breath wasn't enough to fill you up to keep you functioning. She was like a siren, calling you back into the depths of her ocean at any time she wanted to.
◇
Evenings like these were normal once. A wine glass in your right hand, and a book in your left. The cushion of the couch comforted your back as you were lying against it. Jihyo sits at the other end of the couch. Her actions are the same as yours.
Her wine glass is almost empty. The second bottle of wine has already been opened and put on the small coffee table. Usually, Jihyo was more into beer. She would always order the bitter liquid on night outs. Here at 'home', she would enjoy a nice wine with you.
Her eyes are trained on the book in her hand. She's reading some romance drama novel you got her before the whole breakup drama. She always enjoyed your taste in literature. Her love for reading was actually quite unexpected. In the beginning, you only got to see her love for sports or her job. Yet after the first few walls of your relationship crumbled, she revealed more of her true self.
Things got better now. You could eat dinner with her again, sit next to her, or engage in a casual chat with her without thinking about the past events. Jihyo made a lot of effort to try to win you back. Of course you had noticed. Her actions never really subtle.
While thinking, your eyes were trained on her. Jihyo had to bite back a small smile. She wanted nothing more than to have you back as hers again. Regretting everything that happened and that she wasn't faithful to you. Jihyo wanted you back, more than anything in the world. She had made a fool of herself and mostly you.
Nothing would go back to the way it once was, but she could make something new out of it. You both could, together, like you always used to. Giving life a new perspective.
Every time Jihyo thought things were hopeless, she thought back to the broken vase. The effort she had put into something simple as glueing back together the shards of porcelain would give her the boost she needed. Like she did back then, she would now put her effort into repairing this mess. She would glue your broken pieces back together.
◇
Her kisses felt like little butterflies gracing your skin. You could never get enough of the feeling of her. Another night of enjoying some wine and books turned into kisses and caresses. It shouldn't be like this. You should hate her, and you have every right to.
Her mouth drags over your neck, only stopping to give your skin a wet kiss. A sigh escapes your lips. She knew all of your weak spots. Her hands hold onto your waist underneath your shirt. The skin of her hand is soft and delicate.
Your hands hold onto her tank top, fingers occasionally scratching the tanned skin underneath. Gasps escaped her lips. Jihyo was very vocal about her likes and dislikes. She leaned closer to you, her muscles tensing under your touch, but in a good way.
Your hand meets her cheek and pulls her head up for a soft kiss. The kiss holds emotions you nor she could ever express. Sometimes, actions do speak more than words. Jihyo knew how to transport the right message with her gestures.
"You're all I need." She rasps out, her voice breathless and almost hoarse. Her eyes meet yours, the brown orbs filled with hope and need. You've never seen her look at you like this.
Maybe you just need to let your guard down and love her again. The universe would never send you someone again who would look at you like this. The rawness of love, right in front of your face. Your head nods without much thought, and you lean in for another kiss.

Now that South Korea and Japan have each remade a Thai series, I know that if either of them got a Director New series (We Are, Fourever You, Perfect 10 Liners), they would easily have these stories delivered in ten episodes or less and WARM AND COP WOULD ALREADY BE TOGETHER!
And this isn't me being delusional! The lighting changed to purple when Warm said he hadn't found anyone yet!
Red Rascal Arc with red text on his shirt is telling Orange Oddity Pond that nothing happened between him and Arm while Blue Boy Warm is getting hit with purple lighting as he looks at Purple Person Cop!
What would be the reason for this specific color lighting in a show fully color-coded if not to tell me these two color-coded boys are in love.
WITH EACH OTHER!
Arc is a Red Rascal.
Arm is a Yellow Yal with the yellow over his heart.
And they are color-coded boys IN LOVE.
Who are balancing each other out.
And Yellow Yal Arm told his color-coded friends, Blue Boy Sand and Green Guy Po, that Arc kissed him (without their shirts on) while a totally random red figurine sat between his legs.
So if the freshmen are color coded.
And the juniors are color coded.
And they are all in love with each other.
Then it can only mean one thing!
COP x WARM ARE COLOR-CODED BOYS IN LOVE TOO!
Now give them to me!
*GMMTV hands me cameos instead*
You know what? I'm fine with that too. I like Sea's side profile.
#perfect 10 liners#color coded boys in love#the colors mean things#I love these colors so much#Warm x Cop are in love#so give them to me!#episode six#I'm having a great time here#unless I don't get Warm x Cop#then I hate everything and everyone

❝ You want to make a deal, sweetheart? ❞
[ ☆ ] — 𝑨𝒈𝒆: Unknown
[ ☆ ] — [0000.10.03] Deepest pits of Hell
[ ☆ ] — 𝑳𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏: Seoul, South Korea
[ ☆ ] — 𝑶𝒄𝒄𝒖𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: Bartender/Devil's Right Hand
[ ☆ ] — 𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒔: all languages including dead languages
𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚: Chan is arrogant, cocky and loves to push people’s buttons. He can flip it around and be rather flirtatious and charming but definitely knows how to get under the skin either way.
He doesn’t care about consequences nor are they ever a thought in his mind because he tends to do as he pleases.
Can be protective and somewhat caring to those he’s grown close to.
𝑩𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅: Chan was created to be the way he is by Lucifer, personally picked to be pulled apart over and over until he was the first demon of his kind to hold and control the seven sins. He’s been Lucifer’s right-hand man until Lucifer sent him to spy on Irene.
The demon doesn't remember his connection to Irene prior to his recreation so he did what he had to do so he could get what he wanted out of it. Once Irene was taken back to Hell and he was given his reward. Chan helped to save her and also was a helping hand in Lucifer's downfall - all because he got what he wanted out of it.
Now, he's a bartender at the club while still making deals if Irene isn't available to do so. When he’s not working, he’s either down in Hell or collecting souls from those who hold a contract with him. He also tends to spend more time drinking the bar than tending it.
𝑷𝒉𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆: 182cm (6’0); short dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. Chan has dimples. Chan has various scars on his arms and his eyes glow red when compelling someone to sin.
Tattoos: A sleeve tattoo, various designs, mostly demon symbols.
Piercings: right eyebrow, multiple ear piercings.
𝑼𝒏𝒍𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒇𝒐:
Chan is the only demon who has the ability to access the seven deadly sins. Lust is his favourite sin to use. Chan is able to use compulsion to have humans sin, this is how he brings out the seven sins.
He's Irene's right hand man now instead of Lucifer's.
He likes sex, picking fights and causing trouble but dislikes admitting his faults and being vulnerable.
He can summon hell creatures and tends to summon a large axe as a weapon.
He has super strength, immortality, telepathy and teleportation.
Before being remade, Chan once used to be Irene’s confident and friend. To the point, Lucifer thought they were sleeping together.
Demons can either be created or born. There is one demon mother so Chan and @/themuses-rp Johnny are technically related.
Chan has only dated one human whom he didn’t see for a year shortly after they started dating officially. This has caused him to be closed off from dating.
Chan only has allowed two people to be close enough to him to be called his friends. He has since lost both of those friends and doesn’t let anyone else in due to those losses.
Chan loves to push Irene’s boyfriend’s buttons. He thinks that he can take the wolf in a fight.
Chan lives in an apartment when he stays on Earth but spends more time in Hell where he takes care of Cerberus.
While the demon tends to be dismissive about a lot of things, he does pay attention and if he cares for that person he will put in the effort.
Chan secretly loves animals, he prefers cats to dogs but doesn’t mind hellhounds. Werewolves don’t seem to like him.
As of November 2024, Chan has found himself in a strange friendship with San. He enjoys messing with the human and it has caused them to bond, oddly enough.
He does not care for holidays and while he used to try and deliver gifts despite not being around, Chan has not attempted to do so as of 2024.
[ ☆ ] — For a quick fact sheet about Chan, click here.
𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆: —
[ ☆ ] — Bisexual, no lean. Dominant, hard. Top
[ ☆ ] — Multi-ship/Single/No Interests
𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒔: Choking, biting, rough sex, overstimulation, cum play, degradation, impact play, spanking, orgasm control/denial, edging, bondage, dirty talk, public, somno, obsession, pet play, free use pets, no control, dacryphilia. Chan is very kinky and dark, he does not do vanilla and loving unless needed.
He will not submit for anyone and doesn’t deal with brats. If someone tries to be bratty, he will ignore them or actively hurt their feelings.
Chan has a high libido and can be rather rough so he looks for people who are able to handle that.
He can get into some pretty freaky stuff that is usually talked about in private.
𝑰𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝑻𝒚𝒑𝒆: Chan's ideal type is someone he can push and who likes to push back but only outside of the bedroom. He does like the fight and fire but prefers someone to know their place as he can't be fucked having to put someone in it. Physically, he prefers someone smaller than he is and someone who he can throw around and manhandle.

In America, unprecedented success begets unprecedented wealth. When Michael Jordan wins six championships or Mark Zuckerberg invents social media, they earn billions.
And not only them but also their teammates — the people whose contributions weren’t just meaningful but necessary. In success, they get paid, too.
But not in Hollywood. Here, when you write for a show that becomes an unprecedented success, there is no such windfall. There is only a check for $259.71.It doesn’t matter whether the show you helped build generates 3.1 billion viewing minutes in one week across Netflix and NBCUniversal’s Peacock, setting a Nielsen record. It doesn’t matter whether said show constitutes 40% of Netflix’s Top 10.
$259.71: That’s how much the “Suits” episode I wrote, “Identity Crisis,” earned last quarter in streaming residuals. All together, NBCUniversal paid the six original “Suits” writers less than $3,000 last quarter to stream our 11 Season 1 episodes on two platforms.
Yes, it’s gratifying that the show has found a new and bigger audience this summer on Netflix. Every writer and actor hopes their work will endure. And yes, I’m grateful to have been in the engine room of “Suits” for eight of its nine seasons.
But $259.71 for writing a show with an audience so massive? This is why writers and actors are on strike. This is why SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher has used terms such as “un-American” to describe this system.
Entertainment executives argue that they are offering writers historic raises. The thing is, even a 100% increase on a $259.71 check doesn’t come close to paying most people’s rent.
Even in a best-case scenario — which “Suits” most definitely is — streaming simply offers no upside for writers and actors and no correlation between results and compensation.
Being underpaid is only part of the problem. The other part? Not being paid at all.
“Suits” became so popular globally that it was licensed and remade in South Korea, Japan and Egypt. When that happens, studios are supposed to pay the writers for the source material.
But a couple of quarters after the Egyptian version of “Suits” began airing last year, I asked the Writers Guild of America to look into why I hadn’t been paid. So far, the guild’s small but intrepid enforcement team has been stonewalled.
The streaming success of “Suits” may be rare, but my experience is common. My fellow writers and actors have taken to posting their own paltry residual checks on social media. Others are owed money for work completed years ago.
A lack of equitable compensation is a valid enough reason to strike and one that most Americans can relate to. Writers and actors are merely the latest arrivals in this late-stage capitalist purgatory.
But this fight is about much more than what writing an episode of “Suits” is worth. It’s about how entertainment is made and paid for more broadly.
Whether you’re an airport baggage handler or a schoolteacher or a television writer, you rely on a whole team to get the job done well. Aaron Korsh, the creator of “Suits,” worked for two years to craft a compelling pilot and made all the big decisions that guided everything we did. But a mock trial episode that truly elevated the series came from Erica Lipez, the sixth writer hired.
Without Lipez’s contributions, there would still be a show. Without any three of us, there would still be a show. But it wouldn’t be “Suits.”
You can’t subtract Sean Jablonski’s subversive edge, Jon Cowan’s storytelling know-how or Rick Muirragui’s laugh-out-loud dialogue and have a Season 1 that lays the foundation for another eight.
In recent years, streamers have exerted downward pressure on the number of writer-producers who work on shows and stripping early- and mid-career writers out of the casting, production and editing processes. On “Suits,” writers participated in every step of their episodes, which contributed to the show’s quality. That rarely happens now.
An overlooked aspect of this strike is that writers and actors are fighting to protect the quality of the shows that people watch.
The resurgence of “Suits” comes at an opportune moment for executives. The business is shut down; they have time to take stock of what has worked and what hasn’t. Among the questions they might ask:
What does it say that a show that debuted 12 years ago is outperforming dozens of newer original series that Netflix has spent hundreds of millions of dollars producing?
What is the real value of the limited series that streamers have been cranking out? Are viewers as likely to revisit short-lived, ripped-from-the-headlines one-offs about corporate scandals or small-town murders as they are a fully developed, long-running drama?
Are viewers craving more carnage and darkness or cable news sermonizing? Or are they hungry for shows that leave them feeling good?
Only the streamers can determine what kind of content they produce and distribute. Writers and actors are powerless to negotiate that.
But many artists are certain that what is broken about Hollywood isn’t just compensation. It’s what’s being made and why.
Unlike many shows today, “Suits” wasn’t made out of fear. Alex Sepiol, the executive most responsible for championing the series, bet that viewers would respond to a show with an unknown creator and mostly unknown cast because the material was simply that funny and human. More than a decade later, that bet is still paying off.
If only it were paying off for the actors and writers who helped make it a winner.

4Gamer.net GGST Interview with Daisuke Ishiwatari and Akira Katano!
4Gamer.net Interview with Akira Katano/Daisuke Ishiwatari
Translation: Yours truly! (Gear-Project)
4Gamer:
Thanks for your Time today. In less than a month, the game will go on sale June 11th, so please tell us your current feelings. *(Note: Interview was held on May 18th.)*
Ishiwatari [I]:
Normally, the development would be over, and I think that it's still a feeling of "please play this everyone", but for us the release date is over. Instead, I think it's all in the timing of the beginning. It's a feeling of what to do in the future.
Katano [K]:
You can see from the point when the 2nd Open Beta was conducted (May 14th to 16th), we are still developing and verifying everything. Of course, we will continue to adjust the game even after it is released, but for the time being, we are working hard to provide a full-package game that will satisfy our users on the release date.
4Gamer: This work was originally scheduled for release on April 9th, but the release date was extended to June 11th. Could you elaborate on the reasons for the delay?
I:
Biggest reason was that we received a lot of opinions about the processing and specifications around the Network. It took some time to meet those demands.
4Gamer: Didn't you get an opinion on the battle balance?
K:
Of course, there are also those aspects. In the open beta, we were observing the movements of various players throughout distribution, etc. and receieved many opinions. I think it was a necessary measure to aim for something more ideal.
4Gamer: The 2nd open beta test was conducted on May 14th. How was the response from the players here?
I:
In a phrase: pros and cons. It was more pronounced than the first beta.
4Gamer: How about from a developer's point of view?
K: I feel that it was meaningful to conduct the open beta test again before the release. Around online, a server error occurred even during the second beta, which caused trouble for the players, but it was great that we could confirm the cause before the release and fix it, I think.
Also, regarding the battle system, there were some elements that changed in fundamental areas from the first and second beta. There was both positive and negative opinions from the players about them. As for what kind of adjustment will be provided on the release date? I'm glad that I had the opportunity to consider it again.
4Gamer: I also played in the 2nd Open Beta Test, but I felt that there were quite extreme adjustments in terms of battle balance from the 1st. Was that intentionally made extreme?
K: If I said it was intentional, it may be a little misleading. However, to be honest, there was a part that was adjusted to the point that the product version would NOT be as extreme.
4Gamer: When that happens, there's a possibility that the product version will be considerably adjusted from the 2nd Open Beta version.
K: At this point, we are aware that we CANNOT sell the product as it is. After analyzing all the contents and feedback of each of the 1st and 2nd sessions, we will continue to make adjustments up to the last minute, aiming for the final product version.
4Gamer: By the way, what was the most popular request from the players at the end of the first session?
I:
Most common area was around the Lobby.
K:
Most of the opinions were that the lobby was difficult to use and it was difficult to play against each other. The development team also participated in the beta test from the users' point of view and agreed with everyone, so I felt that it was necessary to fundamentally revise the revision before the release.
4Gamer:
In terms of battle balance, there were many opinions that the aerial options were too strong in the first test. In the second test, I feel that some extreme adjustments were made, such as shortning the flight distance of jump, adding landing recovery after aerial actions, and strengthening anti-air attacks.
K:
As I mentioned earlier, it's certain that we've made some extreme adjustments (for the 2nd test).
4Gamer: When I actually played it, I felt the degree of freedom around aerial moves was reduced compared to last time.
K:
To be clear, it was cramped. We recognized that as well. After analyzing user feedback, we are currently deciding where to land.
I:
Regarding the dissatisfaction with the actions side, we expected that such a voice would come out. However, there was a possibility that something I didn't notice might come in to view, so I decided to steer a lot this time.
4Gamer:
It was quite literally a 'test'. By the way, I think that the past GUILTY GEAR Series was mainly about aerial combat. Is it the idea where you wanted to emphasize ground warfare because you dared to reduce jumping?
I:
I'm not sure because it's free to play (the beta), but I'd like you to think so. One of the problems with the previous Guilty Gear was that it was attractive for 'free aerial combat' and the difficulty there was too high. It's a recognition that it's too difficult for new players to come in.
Difficulty of operation included aerial battle, combo length, etc. had to be remade to some extent for new players and alleviated. The result of a comprehensive review of these is the current form.
However, I don't want you to misunderstand that just because the difficult part was simplified does not mean that it has become easier as a fighting game. I think the game has become more severe in the bargaining part as the risk in actions has increased. (GP's note: yes, very Samurai-Shodown-like).
K:
I've always wanted to make the first step of the stairs easier to touch and play, but I don't think it's easy as a game design. We are designing with the hope of providing "Guilty Gear-ness" that integrates the difficulties and severity that are different from previous series.
The story of aerial warfare is the same, and I don't want to make jumps separately. We would like to provide free bargaining and technicality that makes use of the aerial behavior that is unique to "Guilty Gear", however, since the past work was like this, it is NOT the idea that it should be so this time as well. (It doesn't have to be the same as last time, in other words.)
[The balance is "wild adjustment" emphasis on fun, not strength.]
4Gamer:
Please tell us about character adjustments. Is there a direction or guideline for overall adjustment? In the 1st and 2nd tests, it was Potemkin that was adjusted in an easy-to-understand manner, and I felt that a lot of elements were weakened.
K:
Regarding adjustments, first of all, we value the character's strengths, charm, and fever points. For example, the Potemkin of this work is designed so that the command throwing Potemkin Buster can do unprecedented damage. This part has not changed since the last test.
I:
As with the previous Potemkin, there was a fact that he was a grappling character, but he was strong "without" throwing. Therefore, I try to reconstruct that part to push out the charm of a grappling character.
4Gamer:
If you are attracted to grapplers, it would be nice to have a lot of charm in throwing techniques. By the way, do you have any idea/plans to intentionally add elements that the users may be looking for when making adjustments?
K:
No, this work provides a new starting line, so I try not to be aware of it as much as possible (ouch!). To be honest, I can't say that there is none at all. However, the word "user" ultimately refers to the player who has played the past work, so instead of intentionally approaching it, the emphasis is on preparing a new concept and designing weapons and weaknesses. I put that down and make it.
I:
In past works, there were some contradictions, such as a long-distance character with strong close combat, and a throwing character with strong attacks. We are developing to match the character concept that we and the player think of so that people who start from this work will not be confused.
In addition, although the term "wild adjustment" has been used for some time, when making the adjustments, the emphasis is on "whether it is interesting or not" rather than the parts that are strong or weak. Anyway, sharpen the sharp part and drop the parts to be dropped. It's like getting paid.
K:
As Ishiwatari says, in the end, fun is more important than balance. Therefore, I don't want to sharpen the charm and weapons of the character. In addition, it is often desirable to adjust the upper features to strengthen the whole, but I do not think that it is correct that as a result of strengthening, many characters who can do anything will be born.
However, in the past works, as the series progressed, there were times when quite a few characters became versatile. Because it's a game with a long history, elements that make up for weaknesses were often added.
I:
There was also the aspect that being able to do anything would lead to the individuality of the player.
K:
The starting line for the adjustment was what to do with this work, taking into account the historical facts as they were, regardless of whether it was good or bad.
4Gamer:
Please tell us about the Netcode. In this work, ARC's original rollback netcode was adopted. How was the response on the development side in the 2nd Open Beta Test?
K:
It's not that there were no problems at all, but I think that the overall results were very good. In particular we received very positive opinions from overseas players. There may have been many players who were dissatisfied with the delay method.
I:
There are FOUR time differences in the United States! (lol time zones)
K:
It's not comfortable in Japan and Brazil, but it's now possible to enjoy a comfortable match in Japan and South Korea, or in the United States. I feel a great response from the development.
4Gamer:
With Rollback netcode, it seems possible to realize online battle events in remote areas. For example, it may be interesting to carry out regional competitions that were held during the heyday of arcades.
I:
I don't think young players today know that there was a regional competition. Since we are from an Arcade Field, we want to know more about the Arcade Culture.
K:
I think that the goodness, enthusiasm, and enjoyment of the events we held at arcades in the past will surely be passed on to the new generation and must be passed on. This is true for all fighting game events. I think there are many cultures and merits of the community that only people who have been playing fighting games for a long time know, and I haven't been able to convey them to the new generation. I want to deliver the charm of fighting games in a new way.
[Season Pass Adds 5 people, including completely new characters!]
4Gamer: Next, please tell us about your character. We were able to use 15 characters in the 2nd Open Beta Test. will this be all the characters at the time of launch?
I:
That's right.
4Gamer: Anji Mito hasn't participated since the Guilty Gear XX Series. Was Anji Mito scheduled to appear from the beginning of development?
I:
No, he was just one of the candidates. As with any work, even right down to the last frame, the characters will still be a worry until it's finalized.
K:
Regarding Anji Mito, it was planned that we would pick a character who did not appear in the Guilty Gear Xrd Series, and I remember that's what decided it.
I:
I really want to put out more characters. The more characters there are in a fighting game, the more fun it is. In that sense, I would like to provide you with new characters as soon as possible. (Ishiwatari wants a HUGE roster, hah!)
K:
I have a desire to have all the characters that appeared previously in the series. As always, I'm sorry for the fans of the characters who have been waiting for us.
4Gamer:
Who is the most difficult character to select among the 15 characters?
I:
First of all, there was a concept that we wanted to release the initial characters of the first GUILTY GEAR, and so 9 character slots were filled. All of the following 6 characters were a concern, so I don't think anyone was the best.
4Gamer:
Leo and Ramlethal are characters from the Guilty Gear Xrd Series, so some fans were surprised to participate in the conflict.
K:
For those who are playing from Guilty Gear Xrd, I was thinking of releasing either Ramlethal or Elphelt, which are the representative characters, from the beginning. But this time, Ramlethal was chosen.
I:
For the fans of Guilty Gear Xrd, I wanted to bring out the recognized characters rather than making them completely different. However, with Leo I really didn't bother so much, because I wanted to put him out there.
K:
Since it was decided to implement Story Mode, whether or not it was a character that appeared in the story had some influence on the character selection. Although the cost is different between the battle and the story, since it is based on the same character model, there was talk of wanting to make some characters in the story playable.
I:
It feels a little strange that you can't use the characters that are active in the story in the first place.
K:
In that sense, Leo is a character that is quite involved in the story.
4Gamer:
Who are your favorite characters, Mr. Ishiwatari and Mr. Katano?
K:
Nagoriyuki. I like his visuals and performance, and if I'm playing, I'll definitely pick him.
I:
I will be Sol this time. The finish is selfish, and I feel that the character settings and performance match.
K:
As with all characters, after throwing away the battle image so far and thinking about how to fight like Sol, that's the end result. Each character in this work has a situation that they are good at, and if you bring it into the situation, you will be able to demonstrate strength that can be said to be somewhat unreasonable.
4Gamer:
Mr. Katano mentioned earlier that he likes Nagoriyuki, and in this sense he is a rushdown character, I feel the image fits him perfectly.
K:
It may be easy to understand the timing when a strong rush is set along with other weaknesses. However, this is something that all characters are aware of, not just Nagoriyuki. If you can prepare your favorite situation individually for each character, it will be established as a fighting game in which various types of characters fight.
Of course, it may be compatible with the character, but I don't think it is necessary to forcibly flatten them.
4Gamer:
In the popularity poll held the other day, Ramlethal was the most popular in all regions at home and abroad.
I:
To be honest, it was really surprising.
K:
Ramlethal dominated 1st place, but Giovnna and Nagoriyuki were also in the top. Since the popularity polls in the Guilty Gear Series always have major characters like Sol and Ky at the top, it is interesting that the characters who participated during Guilty Gear Xrd were selected at the top.
4Gamer:
Please tell us about the designs of the new characters. What kind of concepts did Nagoriyuki and Giovanna come from?
I:
Visuals of Nagoriyuki came from the forefront of the story. I'd say that I drew what came to mind as it was, and the pencil ran on its own. On the contrary, Giovanna had a lot of problems. Because of her profession as a Secret Service bodyguard for the President, I couldn't design her too eccentrically, and in a sense I settled on a character that didn't look like a GUILTY GEAR character.
It was a nice miscalculation for her to get into the top of the popularity poll.
4Gamer:
Regarding the design, does the visual come from the character settings? Or is there a reverse pattern?
I:
It's already case by case. Sometimes it's born with settings, sometimes it's because I wanted a character that looks like this. For example, with regard to Giovanna, the unique silhouette of wearing wide pants is characteristic, but this came to mind even before the image of Giovanna was created.
K:
Our team may always be thinking about how to make a particular silhouette or action look cool. Speaking of Nagoriyuki, there was a strong desire to express the behavior of a sword master in a cool way.
I:
The movement of the blood attacks along the sword, we call the movement a blood swing, we think we produced a cool movement with it.
K:
The current team is unique, and that kind of story comes first. I want to make my blood look cool, so I'm trying to implement this kind of motion. I don't see this kind of thing on other teams.
4Gamer:
The image of Faust has changed significantly compared to the old character.
I:
In the first place, the idea was to renew all the characters to the extent that the image was not spoiled. Faust is a character characterized by comical actions, but many of its sources are only familiar to Japanese people. There was still a part that seemed to be a drifter to expand globally (laughs). As a result of his image and backbone being made to live in an interesting way, it became the current visual.
4Gamer:
Regarding characters, it was announced that 5 people will be added in the first Season Pass. How long until this will be added? Also, do you plan to add some characters from completely new or old works?
K:
We will not be able to give a specific character name by the time it is released, but we plan to announce when it will be added. Five people have already been decided, and I would like to release them as soon as possible!
I:
I always try to add one or more completely new characters to the five.
[The story of Sol that started from the first GUILTY GEAR is now complete.]
4Gamer:
Speaking of the Guilty Gear Series, songs and BGM are also highly evaluated. Is Mr. Ishiwatari in charge of them in this work as well?
I:
I leave the BGM production for the story mode to someone else, but I composed all the vocal songs for the fighting game part.
4Gamer:
Is there anything you are conscious of when composing?
I:
In this work, I have abandoned what I had been conscious of before. I used to think that if this song was played during a battle, it would be an emotional scene, but I didn't dare be aware of that. The emphasis was on the backbone of the characters, projecting their drama more intensely than before.
K:
This time, the theme of the character, including the lyrics, is strongly featured. At the moment, only a part of it is open to everyone, so please look forward to it.
4Gamer:
Who will your favorite song belong to?
I:
I really like Ramlethal's song, and I have decided to make this song the title of the album. She is a character who recognizes "Necessary Waste", and in a sense, it is close to the theme of GUILTY GEAR. I decided that her theme would be suitable for the title of the album.
K:
I especially like Leo's Song, but all the songs have different charms. I want you to listen carefully after the release.
4Gamer:
Tell us about the Story. In this work, it is said that the relationship between "That Man" (Asuka R. Kreutz) and Sol will be settled, but as a story, will it be the curtain once here?
I:
As far as I can tell, the story of a "man named Sol" will draw to an end. A Story Mode has been prepared from the Guilty Gear Xrd Series, and Sol has developed in the story as the Main Character. In this work, he talks about what kind of answer he will give to the world in the wake of the incident that started from the past work in simple words. I'm really curious about how you'll feel. So I'd love to hear from you.
In addition, the story mode of this work changes the expression method. Where Guilty Gear Xrd (Sign) was the format of an adventure game (visual novel), Xrd Revelator was an animation (anime style), but this time it looks like a movie (fully animated film).
K:
The other day, I released a part of the story mode, but there are opinions that it looks like a movie as intended.
I:
Originally, I was particular about how the 3D looks like an animation and how comfortable it is, but this time I'm using 3D to incorporate cinematic techniques and camera angles.
K:
With Guilty Gear Xrd, the flow was to make 3D look like a 2D animation, whether it was a battle or a story. In this work, we have evolved it into a powerful expression that makes the most of 3D.
4Gamer:
I think it was refreshing because the camera work during the battle sometimes switched to an angle that was not found in past games.
K:
We are repeating the verification on the part of whether coolness and fun as a game can be compatible.
I:
This is also the part that I have been searching for all this time.
K:
However, whenever I decided to adopt a new and cool angle, I became worried. I used to go back to the 2D method when I was at a loss.
In this work, the scene change does not change mechanically, but the camera follows the movement of the character. Knowing that the core fighting game fans would criticize me, the idea was that this was the only time to go on an adventure.
I:
Of course, after going through the beta test, I would try to correct the Overkill.
4Gamer:
It is said that the story of Sol will be completed, but people think that Guilty Gear will end.
I:
I can't give you a specific story, but I have a plan in mind for future developments. It may be after or before the story of Sol, but I'm thinking about how the story of GUILTY GEAR will unfold. This isn't about making or not making games, it's about notes in your head.
4Gamer: --That will continue.
K:
That's what Ishiwatari always says, but it's difficult to express (laughs).
I:
It's a boring story, but since GUILTY GEAR is a very important IP for us, we can't just cut it off. However, it is certain that this work will make a break for the time being.
K:
I think that the parts that were not told in this story will be complemented in other ways.
I:
Earlier, Mr. Yasuhiro Naito, the creator of "Trigun" that I was with at an American event said, "It's better to finish things than to make them." I've always thought that I had to complete it properly.
K:
Fans have told me that this work will never end.
I:
It's over properly (laughs). I've been thinking about the theme of the story from the beginning, and it's still the same. To all the fans, please look forward to it!
4Gamer:
Please tell us if you have any plans for pre-launch or post-launch events or e-sports development.
K:
We will release new information before the release, and we plan to hold tournament events that players can enjoy and events that a wide range of players can enjoy even after the release.
I:
I would like to hold a new type of event that suits the current situation. Offline events are easy for us from arcades to get together and enjoy, but I think there are some parts that were difficult for those who weren't.
K:
For the past three years, I've been desperate to make games, so I'd like to do that as well. I would like to develop something that can be enjoyed with the players.
4Gamer:
Finally, do you have a message for the fans who are looking forward to the release of this work?
K:
This work was created with an emphasis on playability and ease of entry for those who touch it for the first time. However, I have never made it shallow as a fighting game. We have prepared the elements that we should work on and the world that we can see beyond. It will be operated for a long time, so all players can experience it.
I:
Rather than being a continuation of the GUILTY GEAR SERIES, it was created with the aim of being a completely new fighting game. I think that even new players can enjoy it, so I hope you will be interested and touch it.
And in this work, one episode of the long Guilty Gear Series will be completed. I think that we have been able to deliver something neat to those who have followed the story for a long time, so please look forward to the ending. In addition, for those who come into contact with the world of Guilty Gear from this work, we have prepared movies and manga of the past series on the official website and YouTube. I hope you will check this out as well and enjoy it.
4Gamer:
Thank you both for your time today. (May 18th, 2021)

k-drama recommendations!
// just thought i wanted to make one!! // feel free to scroll down and ignore this if this isn’t for you.. it’s okay!
These are my TOP 5 recommended K-DRAMAS for beginners. I wish you’d like them! Most of these are already quite famous, but if you’re a beginner well then I’d recommend you to watch this, and I swear these are enough to get you hooked on K-dramas!
I have my personal favorites too but perhaps, I’d create another thread for them for another time.
TOP 5: It’s Okay To Not Be Okay (2020) [Watch in: NETFLIX]
Why it is a must-watch: As beautiful as the k-drama romance plot is, you are also going to be educated in the different kinds of mental illness. If you’re open-minded, you’ll surely love this k-drama. The main female lead here is a writer, and the main male lead is a nurse in a psychiatry hospital.
Similar k-dramas: It’s Okay, I Love You (It’s also one of my favorites, it also tackles mental illness and has a great plotline, you won’t be forgetting it too for a while.)
TOP 4: Crash Landing On You (2019) [Watch in: NETFLIX]
Why it is a much watch: It has a very good plotline that would be enough to persuade you to finish a k-drama within the day. The story is simply a rich CEO from South Korea (oh, by the way she is the GIRL) crash lands on North Korea because of a storm + parachute (if you’re confused, watch it), and was discovered by a soldier (the BOY), and he’ll do his best to help her return to her country, safely.
Similar K-dramas: Descendants of the Sun (well, they’re not similar in plot) but it’s a good k-drama too, trust me you’d thank me after watching these.
TOP 3: What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim? (2018) [Watch in: NETFLIX]
Why it is a much watch: I loved THIS k-drama so much, you know it was cliché (kind of), the plot is easily predictable but still, it’s the kind of cliché you’d want to watch. The easiest plot description I could give without spoiling you is that the rich CEO (now, this time the BOY) falls over heels in love with his secretary (the GIRL) after she submits a resignation letter to him.
Similar K-dramas: I suggest you watch Boys Over Flowers after this, it’s a remake of Meteor Garden (which has been remade for over 5621163162 already but it’s a good one). Also: Princess Hours or She Was Pretty. They do not have similar plot lines but you’re required to watch them. JK! The similarity with What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim and those I suggested are they’re the rich boy, poor girl plot.
TOP 2: Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (2016) [Watch in: NETFLIX]
Why it is a must watch: This is the MOST realistic k-drama ever! Also, you’d hate being single after watching this. The plot is literally friends to lovers, they have natural chemistry so you’d be gushing and blushing throughout the series. I can’t also describe WHAT A MASTERPIECE this is, BUT IT IS!
*cough* *cough* If you watched Start-Up before this, I recommend you watch this to show you what a great actor and how boyfriend-material, Nam Joo Hyuk is. (Specially if you’re #TEAMJIPYEONG, I am too.)
Similar K-dramas: My ID is Gangnam Beauty, the main females lead are not considered pretty but the main males lead are. Romance is a Bonus Book, I still weep thinking about that K-drama. Reply 1988, it will make you feel nostalgic - it’s also one of the best k-dramas I’ve ever watched..
TOP 1: Hotel Del Luna (2019) [Watch in: NETFLIX]
Why it is a must-watch: It’s a mix of horror, romance, and comedy (+ drama) it’s all-in-all! Also, the visuals in this K-drama are so magnetic, you’d find yourself loving every single minute of it. The plot is that the girl is the CEO-like of this hotel for ghosts, and the boy is an alive human male being who is hired to be a manager of this ghost hotel. It’s the best.. Also, I think I need to warn you about Cheongmyeong, aka the second male lead, watch out for him - no explanations as to why, no spoilers.
Similar K-dramas: Master’s Sun, A Korean Odyssey, Oh My Ghost! - All of these kdramas include ghosts but they’re really good, so good I wish I was kidding with you.
Okay, that’s it. Hope you’d love them!

baconmancr reblogged your post: Why the focus on Vietnam?
South Korea was a military dictatorship until the 80′s. Japan is still only one step removed from a single party state, with the LDP only spending 4 years out of power since 1955. Are these really the best examples of what american intervention can do?
American intervention is an unusually broad and unhelpful term here. America “intervened” everywhere.
If you are so inclined, you might take your preferred European social democracy, liberated and pacified by American soldiers, shielded from Soviet occupation by American arms, remade by American aid, made rich by the American world order, and credit them to its interventions.
These Europeans became happy American clients. Norway, Denmark, Belgium, and the Netherlands were all NATO members, received Marshall Plan aid, and aligned with America. It was a good arrangement for the Europeans. They did not want the Soviets to occupy them as the Germans had.
If you are less generous, then Germany, defeated, occupied, and remade by America might be the better example. It is not a perfect example. Germany had rather too many ordinary people who had the unusual misfortune of being terribly guilty of some terrible crimes, and America gave them the permission to forget.
But Germany had been an angry little country since Napoleon kicked the Austrian Francis off his German throne, and had spent the entire time since alternately seething and making trouble. After World War II, there was a serious risk that American withdrawal would let Germany do what it had done the last time it made its attempt at European domination.
Germany was already a self-pitying nation with a selective memory -- more Dresden than Belsen -- so what would have happened if they had come into possession of a sovereign, independent, and powerful state, without American ties or European encumbrances?
Russia deserves most of the credit for knocking Germany off its final attempt at European domination, but America deserves the credit for drawing Germany into a European alliance where Germans would not call the shots. America saved Europe from Germany twice over: first by helping take them down, then by making sure they stayed down.
The division of Germany is one of the greatest credits to American intervention. Germany was restored, restored to those happy days before Bismarck, when Germany was the soft center of Europe, divided and at peace.
But! Let me get to your points.
I pointed to Japan and Korea because the United States fought sustained military campaigns there, much as it did in Vietnam. The relative success of American campaigns in Japan and Korea, and the enduring success of Japanese and Korean societies after the American wars, were why I chose to contrast them with Vietnam.
And South Korea’s credit comes not from its democratization, which did come late, but from its peace and prosperity. Today, South Korea is a First World country. After World War II, Korea was as poor as Africa or India. (And although South Korea was a dictatorship, there is substantial moral space between these non-communist authoritarians and the communist states they opposed. Park Chung-Hee’s Korea was better than Kim Il-Sung’s Korea.)
Dominant party democracies are still democracies. Dominant parties are like monopolists who dominate because everyone else is just worse. They’re the Microsofts, Googles, and Amazons of party politics. The threat of competition keeps them on their game, but no one else is as good.
Now, those dominant party democracies include not only Japan, but also “Sweden, Italy, Israel, [and] West Germany[.]” Were Sweden and West Germany one step away from being single party states? Were the Social Democrats and Christian Democrats the functional equivalents of the National Socialists? They were not!
The Apples and Bings of the dominant-party world were awful. Italy’s opposition was the largest communist party in Western Europe. West Germany’s opposition was defeatist. (When the opposition came to power with Willy Brandt, the Chancellor’s personal assistant turned out to be an East German spy.) And Israel’s opposition was led by right-wing terrorists. Can you imagine?
And!
American military intervention is not magical democratizing fairy dust. It is a tool with a limited purpose. It can destroy its enemies. It can take, clear and hold territory. And sometimes it can help its allies help themselves. The American military can protect democracies. It cannot make them.
Sometimes the resources to make democracies work are there. They were there in Germany and Japan, which had been limited democracies within living memory. They were not there in South Korea or South Vietnam. It is possible to be surprised. Iraq is now a limited democracy.
Perhaps it would have been admirable if the United States had contrived to create a political party that would lose to face off with the political party that could win, but it would not have been worth it. Americans have endless disappointment with anything they have made that is less than perfect but an endless patience for anything they can safely ignore.
South Korea’s military dictatorship was something they could safely ignore.

-A Tribute To EunBi and RiSe-
EunBi and RiSe debuted in Ladies’ Code as a part of the original five-member lineup in 2013. EunBi was known for her sweet personality and sense of humor. RiSe was a humble beauty queen with a heart of gold. Together, these two were known for their close friendship. After EunBi and RiSe’s passing, the fans and remaining members of the group examined Ladies’ Code’s discography under a different lens, and the remaining members came to earn quite a bit of respect for how they handled their loss. EunBi and RiSe are greatly missed by fans who still celebrate their birthdays every year.

IN THESE TIMES
We have only 12 years to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 4 percent, according to an October report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The feat, it admits, would require “rapid, far-reaching” societal transformation. If we fail, coastal cities will be inundated, food will run short and the damage will cost $54 trillion by 2040, when babies born this year will be old enough to graduate from college.
The clear path to curbing these catastrophes involves rapidly phasing out carbonintensive fuels, which requires changes on a scale for which “There is no documented historic precedent,” the report’s authors note.
But more dramatic approaches have crept into policy discussions, like solar radiation management, known as SRM. First imagined by scientists during the Cold War, SRM promises a comparatively cheap, quick fix: the continuous dispersal of aerosols into the atmosphere to reflect and absorb sunlight, cooling the planet. In effect, SRM means dimming the sun.
For proof of concept, advocates look to volcanic eruptions, which spew out plumes of aerosols. The 1883 eruption of Krakatoa, for example, reportedly lowered global temperatures by 1 degree Celsius. The best modeling suggests SRM, too, would work like a charm.
Like a volcano, however, SRM is enormously risky. Side effects could include decreasing crop yields, melting the ozone layer or irreparably altering the water cycle, flooding some parts of the world while causing prolonged droughts in others—and those are just the few we are able to model.
If starting SRM is risky, so is stopping once we’ve started: Stanching the flow of aerosols would risk the Earth rapidly warming by several degrees within a decade, known as a “termination shock.” This sudden heating would do more damage than the current, more gradual warming, disrupting the climate while giving species and ecosystems little time to adapt.
But given the stakes, many SRM boosters say the benefits seem to outweigh the risk. After all, what choice do we have?
If it sounds like we’ve crossed into science fiction, we have: This scenario is more or less the opening narration of Geostorm, a critically panned 2017 film about climate-controlling satellites gone rogue. The better-received 2013 class-struggle flick Snowpiercer also starts with a similar premise: an attempted SRM-like scheme backfires into endless winter.
Yet SRM and other risky high-tech climate interventions inch closer to reality by the day. The IPCC report has reignited a long-running debate: How far are we willing to go, and what risks are we willing to take, to keep the Earth from further warming? Humans have altered the climate for centuries by pumping out greenhouse gases. What’s so different about interfering with the climate to save the world instead of cook it? Do we have any other options left?
Stratospheric Aerosol injection — the type of SRM described above—is one of a suite of technologies aimed at large-scale manipulation of the climate, known as geoengineering. There are two broad categories: solar geoengineering to block or reflect sunlight (like SRM), and “negative emissions technologies” to suck greenhouse gases out of the air. Negative emissions technologies have been factored into climate modeling for years and have a long-established (if controversial) role in IPCC mitigation strategies; solar geoengineering has been more fringe.
But in the past few years, the governments of the United Kingdom and United States have each sponsored research into solar geoengineering, outlets from The New Yorker to the New York Times have commissioned lengthy articles on it, and an editor at The Economist wrote a whole book on the subject, The Planet Remade. Just after the release of the new IPCC report, Council on Foreign Relations President Richard N. Haass opined that world governments should “accelerate R&D on geoengineering,” and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) called to “incentivize oil companies to help.”
SRM has even found a research base in the Ivy League. Thanks to Harvard’s Solar Geoengineering Research Program, founded in 2017, the first steps toward implementation may soon float above the United States through the program’s Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment.
Known as Scopex, the experiment is not an SRM test, per se—to truly test the concept would require a global scale. But it is an attempt to go beyond computer modeling to understand the chemistry and microphysics of how particular aerosols interact with the stratosphere. A propeller-powered balloon will disseminate the aerosols; a small gondola, attached, will carry sensors. Researchers hope to launch in 2019.
Opposition to SRM has increased as well. As IPCC researchers met in South Korea to finalize their report, 110 civil society organizations across five continents, from First Nations peoples to think tanks to environmental NGOs, issued an anti-geoengineering manifesto: Hands Off Mother Earth, or HOME.
It reads, in part: “Geoengineering perpetuates the false belief that today’s unjust, ecologically and socially devastating industrial model of production and consumption cannot be changed and that we therefore need techno-fixes to tame its effects.” Signatories fear the development of SRM will be used as an excuse to continue the carbon status quo, calling it a “dangerous distraction” from real solutions and a “further entrenchment of fossil fuel economies.” Fossil fuel corporations have yet to throw their weight behind SRM specifically, but Shell’s chief climate change advisor, David Hone, praises the “sulphur solution” (referring to SRM) as the simplest in his book, Putting the Genie Back.
Harvard scientist David Keith, a contributor to the Scopex project, has emerged as something of a public face of SRM. He disagrees that geoengineering protects fossil fuel companies, envisioning it instead as a complement to decarbonization. “If solar geoengineering was much better understood, I don’t think it would make all the environmental forces give up and let Exxon win,” he says. “There’s not an alternative to cutting fossil fuels. We have to get them out of the energy system.”
Keith isn’t pushing for SRM deployment—just research— and says it’s important to understand all of the risks before moving forward. He worries about the Trump administration or other fossil fuel-friendly governments grasping onto SRM as a perceived quick fix. Still, he thinks we should be able to simultaneously research SRM and take action against fossil fuels.
The HOME manifesto, however, calls for a ban on open-air field experiments like Scopex. “[Scopex] makes no sense if you are not going to pursue deployment later,” says Silvia Ribeiro, one of the manifesto’s authors and the Latin America director of ETC Group, which addresses the social and environmental impacts of new technologies. “All powerful technologies have started with small experiments.”
Oxford physicist Raymond Pierrehumbert, a lead author on the IPCC’s third assessment report in 2001, sees Scopex as a crossing of the Rubicon. “Proceeding to field experimentation,” he writes, “crosses a thin red line beyond which lies the slippery slope down to ever-larger field trials and, ultimately, deployment.”
Skeptics also note that SRM only addresses some of the effects of global warming—those stemming directly from temperature. It does nothing to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the air, which means ocean acidification would continue apace, causing irreversible damage to coral reefs and other ocean life that will reverberate up the food chain. The continued accumulation of greenhouse gases would also heighten the impacts of potential termination shock.

Exposition #1 (Earth)
The mass exposition was going to be a part of the TAPPF post, however this ended up being even longer than the rest of the post, so I’m splitting this into it’s own set of posts. ----------------------------------------------------
Now you might wonder why we need exposition for Earth? Because it’s over 2000 years into the future, with many changes that will upset approximately all of you, let me summarize it:
The U.S. has a couple more civil wars and ends up taking over the entirety of North and South America, eventually renaming itself to the United Continents of North and South America, or just the United Continents of America (UCA).
California ended up taking Nevada, Arizona and parts of Utah, but then ran out of fresh water, so they tried taking Oregon. Oregon had a defense pact with Washington and Idaho, who all at this point had nuclear weapons stored throughout the states. California ended up getting nuked to oblivion, and the newly formed UCA doesn't even bother to claim the territory and clean up the fallout. Later William Boluishe ended up creating the Cybers (sapient androids), and founding the republic of California.
Europe causes several smaller wars. Poland is gone again. Germany ended up taking all of Europe excluding England. Russia remade the USSR, but not Socialist or Communist, so it’s simply the United Soviet Republics (USR). England joined the UCA. Switzerland still managed to not get caught by Germany, and ended up forming a league of Switzerland, Australia, and the state of New Jersey.
Africa ended up getting colonized by foreign powers again, except this time Egypt, Nigeria, Israel-Palestine end up getting some colonies in.
The Middle East (minus Israel-Palestine) was conquered under one banner, and is currently in a war with India, who was and is still fighting a war with China over South-Eastern Asia.
Japan took South Korea, and made a deal with China so China could have North Korea, which somehow worked. Communist China collapsed, and ended up becoming the Republic of China again, then ended up taking Mongolia, and as stated previously, is in a war with India for the rest of Asia.
The UCA and the USR went through with the deal to colonize Antarctica, because they had nothing better to do.
Australia is... Still Australia. They took New Zealand and New Guinea, and formed an alliance with Switzerland and New Jersey.
----------------------------------------------------
If you're wondering about Israel-Palestine, We're calling it that because we don't want to say who won that fight, for our own safety.
Yes, just New Jersey.

WELCOME TO XAVIER’S, KIM SOOJUNG !
… loading statistics. currently aged twenty-two, entering first semester of xavier’s in seoul, south korea. decrypting files… mutant has the following records: strength +5, durability+5, agility +5, dexterity +5, intelligence +5. currently, she is classified under tier omega.
BACKGROUND.
Exposition.
This story starts with a woman who falls for a man and they have a one night stand. In the end, her infatuation doesn’t turn out to be much of anything and the romance dies out pretty damn fast. However, the story doesn’t finish there. The woman, of course, finds out that she’s pregnant with a child. His child. And who else is Soojung but the child of a shitty story? Well, that’s what the orphanage nuns told her anyway. They’re not unkind, but they obviously don’t respect her mother.
Rising.
Growing up in an orphanage doesn’t suck as much as the media makes it out to be. The nuns don’t care, but they’re not huge assholes. Or, maybe Soojung just thinks they could’ve been a lot worse. The other kids, though? The other kids can suck Soojung’s metaphorical left nut. She remembers every single one of them and all the things they did to her, thanks to the fact that she was born with her mutation and her memory is one of the first facets of her mutation that kicked in.
One day, she swears she’ll find every single one of them that made her suffer when she was in the orphanage and kick their asses. For now, she’s just trying to fly under the radar and not attract anymore attention than she needs to. Especially he who stabbed a fork into her leg after her accelerated healing manifested and made it a hell of a time trying to hide the stupid lack of an injury from the orphanage nuns.
Climax.
So one might ask, why did someone like Soojung never get adopted? Well, for one thing, she always avoided drawing the attention of the adults who came into the orphanage. She knew ever since she was a young child that she wasn’t the same as everyone else. No one else could remember every single thing in their lives like she could. And that was just the tip of the iceberg. Once she grew up to be of a certain age, it was easy enough to get passed over by as the adults chose younger orphans to adopt.
Soojung left the orphanage once she was old enough that they didn’t want to and couldn’t keep her anyway. Knowing that she was different, and not having any kind of family support to fall back on anyway, she passed through cities and counties taking on odd jobs just enough to support her immense appetite. For the longest time, not having enough food to eat meant she would have to suppress using her athleticism, but sometimes things don’t happen the way you expect them to happen.
And the unexpected was what hit her when she saved someone from being run over by an 18-wheeler truck, which is what attracted the scouts at Hangang Academy.
Falling.
Now, she’s transitioning away from her days of being a wanderer, avoiding the eyes of others and into an academic life again. The orphanage sent the kids to school, so she went as far as to graduate from high school with a certificate but that was pretty much as far in life as Soojung expected to go. And frankly, it wasn’t as if she wouldn’t have been able to ride through on a scholarship to any university that she wanted to. Yet the danger of being caught for what she was and possibly being lynched for it scared her far more than any possible ambition to succeed in life.
The fact that she’s been given a chance now to figure out how to harness her abilities and maybe integrate back into society later feels like it’s too good to be true.
MUTATION.
Harder, better, faster, stronger. Soojung is not your average human, heck, she’s not even your average mutant. Both her body and mind are supernaturally enhanced; eventually she’ll be in even better than peak condition. Currently, her skills are still manifesting.
STRENGTHS.
Accelerated regeneration and healing. So far, this aspect of her ability allows her to heal faster than your average normie. She hasn’t manifested the regeneration portion of the mutation yet. When she gets small cuts and scrapes, they disappear within a couple of hours instead of days. For larger injuries, they might take a couple of days instead of weeks.
Athleticism. She’s got the physical skills of Olympic athletes so far. In terms of speed, she’s about on par with Usain Bolt. She can deadlift as much as a male Olympic gold medalist. Her flexibility could put top figure skaters and gymnasts to shame. And she parkours with the best of the professionals. She hasn’t explored the limits of her athleticism yet, but so far it seems that she’s got peak human athleticism without even trying and it gets better every day.
Memory. Soojung has a photographic memory. She remembers everything that she’s seen and experienced with crystal clarity. She has perfect recall and can tell you exactly what happened to her on any specific date in her life, albeit only down to the time if she happened to be checking it.
WEAKNESSES.
Accelerated regeneration and healing. She’s not invulnerable, so she can still die if she’s repeatedly hurt faster than she can heal. And of course, whatever injuries she sustains still hurts as much for her as it does for a regular person. It’s possible for her to heal around an object that’s been pierced through her or penetrated into her body, so removal of foreign objects is a hell of a process because she’s constantly healing against the removal. Surgeries are excruciating because her body metabolises the anesthesia faster than regular humans, and incisions need to be constantly remade because her body will keep healing over the cuts.
Athleticism. Exerting any of her athletic abilities makes her hungry. As a matter of fact, not exerting it also makes her hungry. Soojung is always, always hungry. And not the kind of hungry like, “hmm, it’d be nice to have junk food for lunch” but more like, “if I don’t eat right now at this godforsaken moment, I am probably going to start cannibalising the person next to me” kind of hunger. It’s a bitch to constantly wake up every couple of hours just to eat and make sure she doesn’t accidentally eat someone else.
Using this ability too much within a short period of time gives her shitty side effects like nausea, vomiting, migraines and passing out. The kind that her accelerated healing doesn’t take away because it’s almost like psychosomatic symptoms of overusing her abilities.
Memory. You know how some embarrassing memories keep you up at night, some nights? Yeah, Soojung can’t forget any of her embarrassing memories. At all. Soojung can’t forget anything that passes through her memory at all. It’s a double-edged sword because some things, you just want to forget but she can’t. Especially traumatic things that she’s gone through; that shit plays through her head every single time she’s reminded of it and she can’t even rely on time to soften the edges of it.
She can only remember things that she’s seen or experienced. You could ask her about anything under the sun and she might have the answer, but only if she’s encountered the thing that you’re asking her about. Otherwise, she’s as clueless as the next Tom, Dick or Harry about it.
Similar to her athleticism, overusing her memory within a short span of time gives her negative side effects. Cramming a 500 page book be possible, but if you give her 15 minutes to process a whole encyclopaedia series? Be prepared to deal with a really nasty hot mess in terms of nose bleeds, vomiting, even concussion-like symptoms, which again her accelerated healing doesn’t fix.

Joint Replacement Surgeon in Bangalore
Rest easy knowing that surgery to replace a hip or knee has been tried and tested over the years. Most prosthetics and implants have also been around for a long time. Even though they have been redesigned and remade since then, they still have the same idea behind them. They have held up over time. Often, the surgeon's skill and experience make the difference between a successful operation and a less successful one.
Even though many people choose the orthopedic surgeon that their primary doctor suggests, more and more patients are taking an active role in finding the man who will put in their new joint. It is important to learn about replacement. Choosing the right surgeon for the job might be just as important. Joint Replacement surgery is a big choice, and the patient and their family usually give it a lot of thought before making a choice. Many things go into choosing a specialist surgeon.
Begin with referrals
Referrals are a great start when looking for the right orthopedic surgeon. Your primary care doctor or practitioner is the best place to start getting referrals so that you can find all the orthopedic surgeons. You can get help making the right choice from online reviews, family, friends, and other health care providers.
Check credentials.
Try to learn more about the skills, experience, and credentials of the orthopedic surgeons hired. This means knowing where they went to school if they are certified, and how long they have been doing surgeries. Expertise can be shown by the number of years of experience, the number of research papers published, and the universities they graduated from.
Treatment fortes and experience
Orthopedics is a vast subject, so choose a surgeon who specializes in your issue. Not all orthopedic surgeons are knee replacement experts. Experience: What's the surgeon's experience? Where? What's his knee replacement rate? What's his annual total?
Details on hospital
After you have clear information about the surgeon's skills and experience, you should look at the hospital where they work. The infrastructure, technology, instruments, dedicated labs, well-equipped operating rooms, and environmental control features of the hospital are all part of the evaluation.
Patient Testimonials
One of the best ways to feel good about a surgeon is to hear what other people who have had surgery with him or her have to say. Good surgeons often tell new patients to talk to those who have already been treated by them.
Some hospitals also set up camps or get-togethers where the surgeon and the healed patients can talk to each other.
Cost of treatment/insurance coverage
You need to find a good surgeon and hospital, but you also need to make sure you can pay for the surgery. So, it's important to always check how much the treatment or surgery will cost. If you have health insurance, you should know exactly what it covers and how much. Choose a network hospital as much as possible if you want to stay in the hospital without having to pay cash.
If you need Joint Replacement Surgeon in Bangalore Dr. Srivatsa Subramanya is a shoulder and knee specialist who works as an orthopedist in Bangalore. He has done shoulder and knee surgery all over the world, which gives him a lot to offer. He got his specialist training at Madras Medical College, which has the largest Orthopedics department in the country. After he became a specialist, he worked in some of the best hospitals in the world to learn how to do the best shoulder and knee surgeries. During his time in Australia, he won the prestigious Melbourne Knee Fellowship (St. Vincent's Hospital) and the Orthoclinic Sydney fellowship in shoulder and elbow. He also has a fellowship from Ospedale De Cervesi in Italy in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. In 2015, he was a Tohoku University travelling fellow. During that time, he went to Japan to learn more about shoulder and knee surgeries. He also finished a fellowship in orthopedic trauma in Seoul, South Korea.

What my wife sees: The hipster restaurant gave us scrambled instead of over easy and forgot our potatoes in our take out. Nbd.
What I see: (deep breath)
The roasted potatoes at this restaurant take 20 minutes to cook because they always come out after our food when we eat in. Scrambled eggs cook faster than over easy eggs. They said the food would be ready in 15 minutes. The food was ready in 10 minutes.
It's Labor Day and busy and we're take out. So they know that we will not know anything is wrong until we are home. I've worked in a lot of commercial kitchens since 1996. I know that in these situations, staff will cut corners on a take out ticket as a choice so that they can catch up with the dine in tickets. Best case scenario, you catch up on tickets. Worst case scenario, you just make the order right when they complain so you successfully delayed it to a time you are less busy.
Now I've been hyping this dish up to my wife for a week. So I take a picture and I go back.
Hostess: What can I help you with?
Me: What kind of eggs come on the Spaniflora avocado toast?
Hostess: Overea... What kind did you order?
Me: They come with overeasy. I've had them hear before.
Hostess: Well they come however you ordered them.
Me: But I ordered them with you personally 10 minutes ago. I didn't change them. And I didn't get the potatoes we talked about.
Hostess: (calls over very tall male waiter) The Spaniflora avocado toast doesn't come with roasted potatoes, does it?
Waiter: It, uh... No. No it doesn't.
Me: But she said they did. I didn't even ask for them. She told me it came with it and I paid and picked up and took them home and they weren't there.
Waiter: It. Doesn't. Come. With. Potatoes.
Me: It's on the menu that it does.
Waiter: Look, I can get some potatoes. That isn't a problem.
Me: Ok, I need the Spaniflora avocado toast remade with the right eggs.
Waiter: They weren't over easy?
Waitress: (turns and walks away quickly)
Me: No, they were scrambled.
Waiter: Okay. I'll have that right out to you.
Me: (waits 2 minutes)
Manager: Sorry about that. Here you go. (Leaves tied bag)
Me: Hold up. Let me check. ... There's just an over easy egg in a box in here.
Manager: What was it supposed to be?
Me: Spaniflora avocado toast with over easy egg and potatoes.
Manager: No problem. Miscommunication.
Me: (waits 2 minutes)
Manager: Here you go. Sorry about that.
Me: Thanks! (peek in box, see toast)
Then I go home and there's still no potatoes.
So that's the worst case scenario for the average person right? It's done even if you are the pickiest person. Maybe you go back and ask for the potatoes again.
Here's where I go from picky to mentally ill.
I'm stressed because this restaurant I love, I now realize will not be here in 10 years. Not because of some vague entitlement. If it was some delusion I could just go back on lithium.
See, this was the first hipster restaurant in my tiny rural town. A few more hipster places opened afterward in the same downtown area. At the same time South Korea struck a deal with the county for drone factories on our West border but had to produce a ton of infrastructure. On the North border a similar situation happened with Disney and Florida Health. South can't be developed. East is undeveloped. That's why I bought here. 5 years ago I saw this coming before everyone else. I'm making money hand over fist while everyone is telling me I'm wrong and can't be making money on investments.
The only people besides me that see all these angles is the local politicians and the real estate investors and they are working together to drive out existing businesses, buy the property, put fake businesses in to hold the spot, and improving the infrastructure to sell at a profit in five or ten years. We have a downtown business on main street that is just teenager with a PlayStation renting out playtime on it after they drove out the only fabric shop in a rural town.
So I see all these angles and I know it's a matter of time before they come after this restaurant I like due to its location but no one will believe me no matter how many times it happens in front of them. At the moment, it's very busy. Just like all the food businesses one block away we're before the city tore up their road for a two week project 18 months ago, putting them all out of business so they could be bought cheaply.
So I'm all alone seeing it's a matter of time before the city and investors tear up the road in front of my favorite restaurant and the restaurant will be forced to depend on long term loyalty to stay profitable and not be replaced by a fake business. But the staff all the way up to the manager is making choices for short term fixes at the expense of long term loyalty. 1 bad experience negates 9 good ones. But this second, that's a good tradeoff for them. In five years, they'll be dependent on long term loyalty but it will be too late then to build it when you have to walk two blocks through construction to get to the door like the previous businesses.
So again, my wife sees scrambled eggs instead of over easy and they forgot the potatoes.
I see ten years of change.
We are both looking at the same to go container.
